Alva firefighters responded quickly to a fire in this two-story house at the corner of Church and Ninth Tuesday after about 4:20 p.m. A neighbor reported hearing a dog barking but no one answered when he knocked on the door. Residents Rod and Andrea Herren arrived soon after.
