December 4, 2016

The Household Executives OHCE Group met Nov. 16, at 2 p.m. at Crooked Oak Bed and Breakfast. The hostess was Nicki Chaffee. The meeting was called to order by President Carolyn Gasaway who also led the group in the flag salute. The eight members answered roll with “What is your family’s holiday tradition?” The quote was “A house divided against itself cannot stand.” Devotion was given by the hostess, Chaffee, from the Upper Room.

Minutes of the October meeting were read by Secretary Chaffee. The treasurer’s report was presented by Eleanor Ring. Checks were distributed from the fair entries. Holiday Happening was attended by Gasaway and she painted a pumpkin and a snowman.

Gasaway will attend the leader training Dec. 8. The next meeting will be Dec. 21, with Helen Thiesing as hostess, Thamazin Harrison as co- hostess and Evelyn Kramp providing the lesson.

Chaffee gave a mini lesson on a program in progress by the Alva EMTs. A large plastic medicine vial is placed in the refrigerator with a list of current medications for each resident. An alert sticker is then placed on the front door to let emergency EMTs know to take this list of medications with the patient to the hospital. A current list of medication is needed on every patient every time they go to the hospital.

Barbara Bouziden presented the lesson on exploring holiday traditions. Magazine articles were passed around to show various holiday decorating projects. The history of Christmas cards was discussed, and a holiday quiz was passed around.

The following members enjoyed a wonderful pumpkin dessert and coffee: Colene Barham, Marilyn Brown, Barbara Bouziden, Nicki Chaffee, Carolyn Gasaway, Lola Heaton, Evelyn Kramp and Eleanor Ring.
