The Alva High School Goldbugs emerged victorious in a tightly contested matchup with the Woodward Boomers Tuesday night for Senior Night.

Though Woodward was first on the board off a left wing trey, Alva's Brooks Hadwiger answered right back with a three-pointer of his own to tie the game at 3-all. For most the first quarter, both teams traded shots with Alva getting their first lead of the night off a three from Ethan Flynt midway through the quarter. However, the Boomers closed out the first with back-to-back treys to lead the Goldbugs going into the second 6-13.

Woodward quickly increased their lead by 10 off another three-pointer after a Goldbug turnover, but Hadwiger was able to drain another three to cut that lead to seven points, 16-9.

Alva was able to come back within one point of the Boomers' lead as Davion Murrow started their run with a putback after a missed three-pointer from Hadwiger. Flynt quickly followed with his own trey, and Grant Ritter ended the Goldbugs' 7-0 run with a short jumper to put the score at 19-20 in Woodward's favor.

Unfortunately, Woodward had the final say of the first half as they hit a buzzer-beating three to lead Alva 19-23.

The Boomers were able to increase their lead by10 to start the third quarter, but Hadwiger answered the call again with another three to put the score at 25-32.

Though Alva trailed by six going into the fourth and final quarter, Jacob Faulkner answered in a big way for Alva with three big treys. Faulkner's fourth-quarter performance helped push the Goldbugs to a tie with Woodward at 41-41. The Goldbugs got their second lead of the night as Ethan Harzman hit a driving layin to lead 43-41.
