Freedom Superintendent Frieda Burgess resigns

Freedom Superintendent Frieda Burgess stands up on the school roof with a representative from German Roofing Company, along with board President Shane Morris, to inspect the roof repairs going on at the Freedom School.

The part-time superintendent of the Freedom Schools told the board under "new business" that she was going to resign her position at the end of her contract year, June 30, 2017. She commended the board for being a hard-working board and wished them luck. She noted she has some medical issues she needs to handle.

Earlier, after a 35-minute executive session, the board tabled an agenda item to rehire Principal Michael Long. He has been with the district the same length of time as Burgess. Burgess is also Superintendent for the Goodwell school district and commutes between the two districts.
