Alfalfa County to upgrade security system

September 27, 2017

The Alfalfa County commissioners voted to extend the number of days a video is stored on their storage server until it is overwritten. At present, about a week's worth of video is stored. If someone falls or is injured, and later sues the county, it is likely any video evidence of the incident will be overwritten.

By spending $20,000 for a larger server, Alfalfa can store up to 90 days of video. The entire project will cost $45,000 and will change out and move some cameras so more area is covered.

Recently an upstairs men's bathroom flooded, and water got into the county clerk's office. The commissioners wished for better video coverage to help determine if humans had anything to do with the flooding.

Toby Walker inquired of Lanetta Unruh if she had heard from budget maker Buddy Carrol. Unruh said she called a couple of weeks ago and it will be the middle of October. Since the schools have not all turned in their budgets, not much can be done until all have arrived.

The commissioners turned down a request from District 2 (Stan Tucker) to dispose of ownership of a 2011 Sand Dredge 671 (Invoice D2498 100) to District $4.

The Newsgram inquired of the county clerk's office what District 4 was since there are only three county commissioner districts in counties throughout Oklahoma. It was explained that District 4 is a holding spot for equipment jointly owned by the the three commissioners.

In other business, the payroll warrants, the maintenance and operation warrants and blanket purchase orders were signed. No road crossing permits were requested.

The commissioners approved spending $23,850 for a full-time nighttime jailer. Unruh explained this represents 10 months of salary.
