The Household Executives OHCE met Dec. 20 at 2 p.m. in the Fireside Room of the Cherokee Strip Museum with hostess Carol Anderson and Carolyn Gasaway as co-hostess. The meeting was called to order by President Carolyn Gasaway who also led the group in the flag salute. The quote was: “To accomplish great things, we must not only act, but also dream.” Seven members answered roll call to: What is your favorite Christmas memory? Devotion was given by Carolyn Gasaway, “Yes Virginia there is a Santa Claus.”

The next meeting will be Jan. 17 at 2 p.m. with hostess Nicki Chaffee, co -hostess Evelyn Kramp and lesson by Chaffee.

Secretary Chaffee presented the treasurer's report and read the minutes, which were accepted as presented.

Anderson and Kramp provided a brief history on Household Executives. The group began in 1960 and included projects such as sequined tree skirts that members would work on as a group and then auction off. The silver tea service will be accepted by the OSU Extension office and will be presented at the next county meeting.

On Nov 2 Gasaway and Anderson attended the Holiday Happenings at the Major County fairgrounds and reported that serving pieces were created and holiday foods were demonstrated.

Members were reminded about community events: the live nativity at Bradts Menagerie, and the healing service at the FUMC.

Gasaway presented the lesson on the legend of the poinsettia, the history of the Eck family and how the flower signifies the birth and death of Christ.

The following members enjoyed finger foods provided by the members: Gasaway, Chaffee, Anderson, Lola Heaton, Kramp, Eleanor Ring and Colene Barham.
