February 15, 2018

EDMOND, Okla. – SWOSU Softball went winless in two chances on Tuesday against Oklahoma Christian, falling to the Lady Eagles 11-2 in five innings in game one and 1-0 in the second game.

The Bulldogs will look to pick up their first win of the season next Tuesday (Feb. 20) in their home opener when they play host to Central Oklahoma in another non-conference midweek doubleheader.

Game One

Oklahoma Christian 11, SWOSU 2 (5 Inn.)

Box Score (html)

Oklahoma Christian jumped out to a 7-0 lead in the day's first inning and did not look back in game one, as OC went on to end the game early by way of run rule.

RBI's from Kaitlin Donaldson and Samantha Householder in the second and third innings chipped into the Bulldog deficit at 7-2, but OC tacked on four more runs in their half of the third to complete the games scoring and open up an 11-2 lead.

The Bulldogs collected just four hits in the contest compared to 13 from the Lady Eagles and also committed four errors which led to three unearned runs.

Donaldson (L, 0-1) got the start in the circle but was forced out of the game early after allowing six runs in that first inning. Miranda Grover pitched the final 4.0 innings in relief, allowing five runs herself with only two of those earned.

Game Two

Oklahoma Christian 1, SWOSU 0

Box Score (html)

Sidney Kirk (L, 0-3) shut down the Lady Eagle offense in the day's second game, holding OC to just three hits and one run in her third start of the season. Oklahoma Christian was able to notch their lone run of the game in the fourth inning after a two-out error allowed an OC baserunner to score from second base.

SWOSU's offense again collected four hits in the game, but failed to scratch a run across and had just one extra-base hit off of the bat of Kirk. The Lady Bulldogs had runners in scoring position in three different innings, but could not deliver the hit to tack on a run.

Kirk was the Lady Dawgs only hitter to post a hit in both games on the day.
