SAU Softball's Otts receives first career Great American Conference Player of the Week honor

RUSSELLVILLE, Ark. – For the sixth-straight week, a Southern Arkansas Softball player has been awarded a weekly honor by the Great American Conference and on Tuesday afternoon, sophomore Faith Otts was named the league's Player of the Week for her performances at the plate this past weekend.

Otts swung a hot bat in Bethany, Oklahoma, this past weekend as the sophomore hit .643 in a 9-for-14 effort. Of those nine hits, five went for extra bases as she collected three doubles and a pair of home runs, while slugging 1.286. She added five RBI and six runs scored and owned an on-base percentage of .688. The Benton, Arkansas, native collected at least one hit and scored one run in each game as No. 7 Southern Arkansas took the series from Southern Nazarene, 3-1.

In the series opener, Otts went 4-for-5 with two doubles and in games two and three she hit a pair of home runs and combined for four RBI and three runs scored. She concluded her weekend with a 3-for-3 effort, which included a double, one run scored, and an RBI.

Otts entered the weekend series with a .362 batting average and in the four games against the Crimson Storm, the sophomore infielder raised her average 64 percentage points to .426.

Tuesday's honor is the first for Otts in her young career. It is the fifth time this season that a Lady Mulerider has been recognized as the league's Player of the Week and the seventh time a player has garnered a weekly honor from the conference this season.
