Informative lesson on Staycations presented to Household Executives OHCE group

Household Executives met March 21 in the parlor of the First United Methodist church. Hostess was Evelyn Kramp. The meeting was called to order by President Carolyn Gassaway with the quote “You are never too old to set another goal or to dream a new dream” (C.S Lewis).

Gasaway led the group in the flag salute. The devotion was from the book “Stories from the Heart:” a piece called “One solitary life.” Four members and one guest answered the roll call to “Where is your favorite Oklahoma vacation spot?”

The February minutes were read and approved. Kramp was thanked for being acting secretary. The District OHCE meeting was March 16 in Langston. The Chocolate Fantasy will be April 5, an event to benefit the Alva Public Library.

A mini-lesson was given by Gasaway on how children perceive their grandparents.

Kramp gave an informative lesson on staycations and Oklahoma State Parks. There are rules to staycations, such as no smart phones, no emails, no computers, no TV, no work, no worrying, no fighting, no cooking, no cleaning. Kramp gave a historical perspective on camping and informative field trips while traveling.

Refreshments were served to guest Debbie Schwerdtfeger and members Nicki Chaffee, Carolyn Gassaway, Evelyn Kramp and Eleanor Ring.
