Golden Suns cruise past SNU to GAC semifinals

BENTONVILLE, Ark. - After a 3-0 sweep of doubles play, Arkansas Tech defeated Southern Nazarene 5-2 in the opening round of the Great American Conference Championships on Thursday, moving the Golden Suns into the tournament semifinals.

Arkansas Tech (12-5) will face second-seeded Southeastern Oklahoma in the conference semifinals on Friday at 2 p.m. at the Bentonville Memorial Park Tennis Complex.
HOW IT HAPPENED
Arkansas Tech cruised through the doubles portion of competition, winning three matches by a combined game score of 24-5. With the Golden Suns win in the No. 2 doubles match, Annabel Rowlands becomes just the fourth player in school history to win 100 career matches.
Katie Harris gave the Suns the first win in singles action and a 4-0 lead in the dual after surrendering just one game in the No. 6 singles match.
Southern Nazarene won its first match of the day at the No. 2 singles position, then cut Tech's lead to 4-2 with a win in the No. 1 singles match, but Kami Ward closed the door with a two-set win at the third position to end the dual.
