GAME 1 HIGHLIGHTS & HAPPENINGS

Arkansas Tech got off to a hot start after plating three runs in two innings to jump out to a 3-0 lead over SAU.

SAU would get one of those runs back in the bottom of the second on a solo blast off the bat of Redshirt Freshman Cole Boyd that made it 3-1.

Tech added another run in the third as they tripled to lead-off the inning and plated that run on an infield ground out to extend its lead to 4-1.

In the home-half of that inning, SAU grabbed the lead after they plated five runs on four hits to take a 6-4 advantage over the Wonder Boys.

Senior Jacob Richardson stroked his second double of the game as he plated both Austin Baker and Jake Tisevich with a 2-RBI double in the left-centerfield gap to bring the Muleriders within one, 3-4.

Cole Boyd came to the plate later in that frame with two outs and sent a no-doubt 3-run shot over the left field wall that pushed SAU to its 6-4 lead.

Starting pitcher Jacob Stroder found his groove over the next few innings and allowed just three hits to keep Tech off the board as SAU added some insurance runs in the sixth again off the bats of Boyd and Richardson.

Dakota Wright doubled to lead-off that inning and Boyd singled him home with his third-straight hit in the contest.

Tisevich drew a walk later in the frame to keep the inning alive and Richardson connected with third-straight double that plated a pair of runs and extended SAU's lead to 10-4.

Southern Arkansas tacked on an additional run in the bottom of the eight before Tech plated a pair of runs in the top of the ninth on a pair of hits off of SAU's relief pitcher, but the Muleriders had enough cushion to secure the eventual win, 11-6, and take the series over the Wonder Boys, 2-1.

AT THE PLATE

Boyd led SAU with five RBIs and was 3-for-3 at the dish with three runs scored, a walk, and a pair of home runs.

Tisevich tallied an RBI and was 2-for-4 with a pair of runs scored and a walk

Austin Baker was one of three Muleriders that collected three hits in the game and added a pair of runs scored
