14 named Easton/NFCA scholar-athletes

 


LOUISVILLE, Ky. – The Northwestern Oklahoma State University Ranger softball program has always emphasized that academics are one of the most important parts of being a student-athlete. Recently, 14 Ranger softball players were recognized for their hard work in the classroom by Easton and the National Fastpitch Coaches Association.

To earn the distinction of being an Easton/NFCA All-American Scholar-Athlete, players must achieve a 3.5 or better grade point average on a 4.0 scale.

Receiving the honor for the 2018-2019 year are:

• Bailee Whitener (Fr., 3B, Aledo, Tex.)

• Lauran Adcock (Fr., INF, Fairfield, Tex.)

• Jalena Arthur (Sr., RHP, Durant, Okla.)

• Caden Cunningham (Fr., LF, Weatherford, Tex.)

• Abby Detar (Fr., RF, Piedmont, Okla.)

• Chesney Fouts (Sr., C/OF, Alva, Okla.)

• Madison Friest (Fr., C, Roland, Iowa)

• Ashlie Green (Sr., 1B, Joplin, Mo.)

• Kailin Lian (Fr., UTIL, Laguna Niguel, Calif.)

• Lindsey McElroy (Fr., CF, Aledo, Tex.)

• Madeline McIntyre (Fr., 2B, Frederick, Okla.)

• Karly Murray (Sr., RHP, Hinton, Okla.)

• Taylor Russell (Fr., DH, Durant, Okla.)

• Summer White (Sr., 1B, Colorado Springs, Colo.)

Head Coach Jill DeVries continues to encourage all softball athletes to hold their grades to a high standard. The softball team earned the Northwestern Scholar Team of the Year award with an overall GPA of 3.28.
