Volleyball Sweeps Henderson State Tuesday

SEARCY – The Harding volleyball team defeated Henderson State 3-0 (25-16, 25-19, 25-17) Tuesday in Great American Conference action at the Rhodes-Reaves Field House.

Harding improves to 8-5 overall and 1-1 in the GAC.

Henderson State falls to 7-7 overall and 1-1 in the GAC.

FIRST SET

Leading 6-4 in the first set, Harding went on a 4-1 run on two kills by Ally Stoner to lead 10-5. Henderson State battled back to tie the set at 11. Leading 16-14, the Lady Bisons went on a 7-1 run on three kills to lead 23-15. Ally Stoner had a kill and a Harding block gave the Lady Bisons the set, 25-16. Harding had 12 kills in the set with Ally Stoner and Kelli McKinnon each having four.

SECOND SET

Trailing 5-2 in the second set, Harding went on an 8-0 run on four kills to lead 10-5. Henderson State battled back to pull within two, 20-18 but Harding won five of the next six points to win the set 25-19. Kelli McKinnon had six kills in the set.

THIRD SET

Trailing 13-12 in the third set, Harding went on a 10-2 run to lead 22-15. Back-to-back kills by the Lady Bisons gave them the set 25-17. Emily Smith lead Harding with five kills in the set.

STATS

Harding

- Emily Smith and Kelli McKinnon each had 12 kills for Harding. McKinnon hit .600 in the match with no attack errors.

- Sarah Morehead captured a double-double with 33 assists and 11 digs.

- Katherine Cowart led Harding with 16 digs.

- McKinnon and Ally Stoner each had four blocks.

- Harding had six service aces in the match.

Henderson State

- Henderson State had eight kills in each set.

- Courtney Bolf led the Reddies with 10 kills and 12 digs.

- Kenzie Thoman led the defense with 13 digs.

UP NEXT

Harding will play its first road GAC match Thursday when it travels to Arkadelphia, Arkansas to take on Ouachita Baptist at 6 p.m.
