Who is your lord?

March 22, 2024

We will be celebrating the resurrection of Jesus soon. We will also have services all week leading up to Easter. It will be a great time for the community of churches to get together and worship.

This is also a good time to remember who the lord of your life is. Philippians 2:9-11 reminds us, “For this reason God highly exalted Him and gave Him the name that is above every name, so that at the name of Jesus every knee will bow – of those who are in heaven and on earth and under the earth – and every tongue should confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.” Paul tells the Philippian Church that everyone will confess Jesus is Lord. The question will be will you be with Christ or will you be in the lake of fire? We don’t like to talk about that much today, but it is a reality that we have to come to terms with.

In coming to terms with it, you need to determine what or who is lord in your life. What or who is your main focus? Are you focused on Christ or are you focused on something else? Is that “something else” an addiction to alcohol or tobacco? Is it commitment to a secret society or club? Is it idolizing a sports person, actor or actress? Is it money? All of these things and many others can easily become what we worship and when we do we are replacing Jesus with that. In the end we will all come to the realization that Christ is Lord not drugs, alcohol, celebrities or money. Money is the easiest thing to put ahead of Christ. We need money to buy the food and clothes we need. Money is necessary but when we love money more than family, more than Christ then it becomes an idol. We end up worshiping money.

It is a matter of when you come to the realization that those things are taking the place of Christ. I pray that you come to that realization sooner than later. We are not guaranteed the next day. We have to be ready now to meet Christ. Are you ready? Christ proved who he was and what he can do. He is willing to accept you as you are. You do not have to be perfect to accept Christ or go to church. He wants you to accept Him as your Savior. Then the change will happen. It may be instantaneous, or it may take some time. Either way you are being made perfect. Keep Christ as your Lord. Keep Him first in your life. Then when the time comes and He calls you home, you will be able to enter the Kingdom of Heaven.

Keep Christ Lord in your life.
