Two sealed bid openings were held during the Woods County Commissioners meeting on Monday. Chairman Randy McMurphy opened the meeting with commissioners David Hamil and John Smiley present. County Clerk Shelley Reed also attended.

Only one bid was received for the Rural Water District #2 water meter project. Core and Main bid $31,601.01. The commissioners voted to accept the bid. Funding is being provided through a REAP grant.

Jennifer Shafer opened two bids for the Sheriff’s Department door system project. Nextech bid $18,985.52 while Technical Control Group bid $17,032.74. Undersheriff Keith Dale told the commissioners the bids are for eight exterior doors at the courthouse. Currently, the courthouse cannot make new cards for the magnetic door locks. This project would replace that system. Dale said he talked to both bidders and both companies looked good, but he favored going with the local company.

Looking at the bid documents, McMurphy noted that Nextech could handle up to 100 doors on their system while Technical Control Group could add only 25 to the eight being bid. The commissioners discussed the number of interior courthouse doors they might want to add to the system in the future. McMurphy said, “Local is a selling point.” He made a motion, seconded by Hamil, to approve the Nextech bid.

The commissioners approved the following monthly reports: Assessor Collections $538; County Clerk Office Collections $10,399.51; Court Clerk Office Balance $63,847.49; Court Clerk RM & P Balance $16,602.77; Health Dept. Collections $2,800.00; Sheriff’s Office Collections $1,254.96; Board of Prisoners Expenses $4,811.30; Treasurer’s Office Balance $18,870.85.

Public Safety Telecommunicators Week is April 14-20 honoring the telecommunications personnel in the public safety community and thanking them dedicating their lives to serving the public. The commissioners signed a proclamation for Woods County.

Four road crossing permit applications from D & B Oilfield Services Inc. in District 3 were approved. All are for water and two required fees of $1,500 each while two did not have fees. The locations are from 18-23-13 to 13-23-14, from 29-24-13 to 32-24-13, from 33-24-13 to 13-23-14 and from 20-23-13 to 29-24-13.

Hamil wants to purchase a grader for District #1. The commissioners approved a transfer of appropriations for District #1 from M&O to Capital Outlay for that purpose.

Hamil made a motion, seconded by Smiley, to declare two graders as surplus for District 1, and the motion carried. The graders are a 2010 Cat and a 2013 Cat. The county will go out for bid on these two graders.

A LeadsOnline PowerPlus Investigation System Service Package for the Sheriff’s Office was approved in the amount of $2,073 annually.

The commissioners also approved warrants, claims and blanket purchase orders.
