School suspension data reveals inequality, shorter terms

OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) — Oklahoma City Public Schools data reveals the district is suspending fewer students for shorter periods of time, but it continues to suspend students of color more often than their white peers.

Director of student climate and student discipline Chuck Tompkins tells The Oklahoman (http://bit.ly/2joduVy ) that black students have so far made up 45 percent of total suspensions in 2016-2017, despite only making up a quarter of the district's enrollment.
