• Alva Municipal Cemetery taking steps to improve

Street work has started at the Alva Municipal Cemetery. The main (east) entrance is currently blocked off, but visitors may use one of the other entrances.

The Alva Municipal Cemetery is receiving a facelift beginning this week. Cemetery Board Member Arden Chaffee presented a report to the Alva City Council Monday. He said during the board's March 8 meeting they approved plans for improving the main entrance to the cemetery using the $7,500 in this year's budget.

Work began this week on the main (east) entrance to the cemetery. The cemetery budget will allow for about 60 feet of eight-inch-thick concrete for the main entrance off Flynn Street, which receives the heaviest traffic.
