April 28, 2017

Alva police officers have been dispatched to several collisions this month. On Saturday, April 8, at 6:50 p.m. there was a collision on Oklahoma Boulevard at Seiling Street. The drivers had slightly different versions of what happened.

Zachery Earl Sparks, 25, of Alva was driving a 2000 Pontiac east on Oklahoma Boulevard. He said he was in the inside lane and slowed to make a left turn onto Seiling Street. He said the other vehicle was behind him and struck his car while he was turning.

Blake Michael Brown, 26, of Alva was driving a 2013 red Chevrolet Suburban east on Oklahoma. He said he was in the inside lane, but he said Sparks was eastbound in the outside lane. He said Sparks made the left turn in front of his vehicle, causing the collision. Officer Jade Cooper investigated.

Two vehicles collided in the 1100 block of College Boulevard on Wednesday, April 12, at 12:25 p.m. Officer Cooper also worked that accident scene. Jesus Salvador Arizmendi, 19, of Alva was in a 2003 Audi facing north on College Boulevard in the inside lane signaling to turn left into a private drive. Colton Douglas Reuss, 18, of Waynoka was driving northbound in a 2008 Dodge. He said he reached for something in his vehicle, failed to see Arizmendi was stopped and struck his vehicle. The vehicles were moved prior to Officer Cooper’s arrival.

Two vehicles collided at Skyline and Thunderbird when one driver tried to make a turnaround and didn’t see the other one. The incident occurred at 7:40 p.m. on Monday, April 17. Patricia Anne Beeler, 20, of Alva was driving north on Skyline in a 2004 Chrysler PT Cruiser. She turned onto Thunderbird Road to make a turnaround back onto Skyline. Beeler failed to see a 2008 Chevrolet driven by Jewel E. LeDou, 81, of Alva that was also northbound on Skyline.

Beeler’s vehicle struck LeDou’s vehicle in the rear passenger tire causing a flat. No other damage was observed to LeDou’s vehicle. Beeler’s vehicle had damage to the driver side fender, which was still attached to the other vehicle. Beeler fully removed the fender, and both vehicles were driven from the scene by the owners. Beeler was given a citation for failure to devote full time and attention to driving. Officer Sean Farris investigated.
