Marlo Smith, Miss Freedom 1993, honored at pageant

During the Miss Freedom pageant there was an opportunity to give back. The organizers and the Miss Freedom contestants wanted to recognize Miss Freedom 1993, Marlo Woodard Smith. Smith recently lost her home and all her belongings and memories to a fire earlier this year. The contestants and others presented her with a Miss Freedom 1993 sash and crown. "It was deeply moving and completely unexpected," Smith said. "I want to thank everyone who had something to do with this. It is a much appreciated, thoughtful gesture." In the photo, Smith smiles and waves after receiving a duplicate sash and crown.
