Board appointments, resolutions on city council agenda

 


Numerous board appointments, a grant and a donation are included on the Alva City Council agenda for Monday, June 19. The public meeting will be at 6:30 p.m. in the council chambers of City Hall.

The meeting will start off with the consent agenda for minutes and claims followed by reports from boards and officers.

The city audit for fiscal year 2015-2016 will be presented by Chris Angel of Angel, Johnston & Blasingame, P.C. The council will then discuss and vote on accepting the audit.

There will be discussion and action on Resolution No. 2017-006 nominating Alva Business Manager Joe Don Dunham to the OkMRF (Oklahoma Municipal Retirement Fund) Board of Trustees for District 8 serving a five year term. There will be a vote on Resolution No. 2017-007, a budget amendment, to add an NRA Foundation Grant of $6,400 to this year’s budget for improvements to the Alva Public Gun Range. A third Resolution, No. 2017-008, to establish an investment policy for the city will be discussed before voting.


The council will vote on accepting a donated Woods County Sheriff vehicle to be used as a School Resource Officer vehicle. There will be discussion and a vote on engaging Angel, Johnston & Blasingame, P.C. to conduct the fiscal year 2016-2017 City of Alva and Alva Trust Authority audits for an amount not to exceed $19,850.

The council will discuss and vote on renewing the city’s workers compensation insurance and authorize the mayor to sign the agreement in the amount of $141,012.

There will be discussion and action to instruct Dunham to work with legal counsel to develop contracts, financing alternatives and start negotiations with nursing homes to participate in the Upper Payment Limit Supplement Payment Program.


Mayor Kelly Parker will present the following appointments for council action:

• Dale Logsdon, Alva Airport Commission, re-appointment

• Halah Simon, Alva Board of Adjustment, re-appointment

• Jerrad Hada, Alva Board of Adjustment, new appointment

• Lisa Kohlmeier, Alva Board of Adjustment, new appointment

• Lynda Martin, Alva Cemetery Board, re-appointment

• David Kovarovic, Alva Library Board, re-appointment

• Len Reed, Alva Library Board, re-appointment

• Matt Adair, Alva Planning Commission, re-appointment

The council will vote on holding a closed executive session to discuss negotiations with IAFF Local 3782 representing the firefighters. Following return to open session they may take action on the contract for the fiscal year beginning July 1.


The council meeting will conclude with remarks and inquiries by citizens, limited to two minutes per speaker, and remarks and inquiries by council members.

The Alva Utility Authority and Alva Economic Development Authority meetings will follow.
