NJ attorney general joins multistate probe of drug makers

 


TRENTON, N.J. (AP) — The New Jersey attorney general has joined other states in an effort to investigate whether drug manufacturers contributed to the nation's opioid epidemic.

Attorney General Christopher Porrino told The Record (https://njersy.co/2rIgmji ) the move is critical to understanding the roots of the crisis. He said many people addicted to heroin first used powerful painkillers marketed and sold by pharmaceutical companies.

A number of other state attorneys general have confirmed in the past week that they will look into whether those drug makers broke any laws.
