Two from Jet charged with animal cruelty

 


Two people from Jet are charged with cruelty to animals following an investigation by the Alfalfa County Sheriff’s Department.

Both Kevin Lee Hopkins, 49, and Melissa May Sherwood, 46, have been charged with cruelty to animals, a felony. It is alleged they deprived animals belonging to them of food or water. The animals include pigs, a horse, approximately 20 chickens, two donkeys and four or five goats. Both are also charged with a misdemeanor of leaving a carcass within one-quarter mile of a highway.
