Highway 11 closed near Medford due to high water

State Highway 11 east of Medford was closed Saturday due to high water on the roadway, according to the Oklahoma Highway Patrol. Both eastbound and westbound lanes were closed between SH-132 and Medford in Grant County. With the possibility of rainfall continuing for several more days, travelers may want to use an alternate route.

As of 1 a.m. Saturday, the Oklahoma Mesonet showed Medford had received four inches of rainfall in the past four days. Alva received 3.25 inches in the same time period, Freedom to the west had 2.84 inches and Cherokee to the east received 3.17 inches. The May Ranch, which is located near the Kansas border in northwestern Woods County, received 4.89 inches of precipitation in the past four days matching the near 5 inches being reported unofficially by residents in the Burlington area of northern Alfalfa County.
