The following information is from The Freedom Call dated Aug. 17, 1978.

In the summer of 1939, the Freedom Chamber decided to sponsor an Old Cowhand Reunion and Chuck Wagon Feed in honor of the old-time cowhands of this area who braved the perils and hardships of the range. These were cowhands in search of fun and fortune.

To these old cowhands whose lives have been spent in the saddle following the herd that blazed a trail across this country, we salute you. May each and every one receive a just reward for a life well spent.

The Chuck Wagon Feed was by invitation only for the Old Cowhands and their wives. The beef was furnished by an individual.

In the year 1956 Mrs. Lucy Snapp was the first Old Cowhand to be officially honored by the Old Cowhand Organization at their reunion during the rodeo.

Then followed Ed Mahoney 1957, Green Selman 1958, Ed Coles 1959, Doc Omey 1960, Rudy Eden 1961, Simpson Walker, Sr. 1962, Lena Selman 1963, Jim Bliss 1964, Bob Litton 1965, Brad Shaull 1966, John D.
