Cross country team preparing for season

Fourteen junior high and high school students are out for Burlington’s cross country team in the 2017 fall season. The cross country team practices two to three days a week after school as a team. Runners are expected to practice two to three days a week on their own.

The first cross country meet is Saturday, Sept. 2, at Watonga. There are six meets in total plus regionals. The coach for the cross country team is Kirsten Pruett.

There are different distances for the high school boys and girls as well as for junior high boys and girls. The junior high girls start at 1 mile and work up to 1.5 miles and the junior high boys start at 1.5 miles and work up to 2 miles. The high school girls start at 2 miles and work up to 2.5 miles while the high school boys start at 2.5 miles and work up to 3.2 miles.
