September 21, 2017

Freedom cross-country runners are (from left, top row) Summer Ralston, Linsy Weber, Nate Wood, Duke Morris, Luke Bolar; (middle row) Ally Nusser, Cora Vaughan, Triston White, Cameron Denham, Allison Galindo; (front row) Callie Hopper, Shay Wilson, Brook Denham, Trenton Welty and Jack Morris.

This year Freedom Public School has added cross-country back into the athletics program. Coach Germany is having the team train almost daily by running two to three miles. He will also add speed training and hill training. There will be about 16 students on the cross-country team from elementary to high school, with six meets overall. Coach Germany hopes as the season progresses we will have a few high school kids going to regionals.

Callie Hopper from third grade and Shay Wilson from fourth grade are preparing for cross-country by running five laps around the park. Both girls say they are excited to be running. Brook Denham, Jack Morris and Brandt Lee will also be running on the elementary cross-country team.

Triston White and Duke Morris will be running for the junior high cross-country team. The boys seem to be excited and are running after school every day to prepare for the meets.

The high school team members are Allison Galindo, Linsy Weber, Madison Rhodes, Cora Vaughan, Summer Ralston, Nate Wood, Luke Bolar, Cameron Denham and Blake Lee.

The team members seem to either be excited for the meets or dreading the next practice.
