Growing up, I never really wanted the world to be quiet. I woke up to the radio, spent hours on the phone and watched a ton of TV. My parents were always trying to convince me that I could do a better job of studying if I turned off the radio, TV, eight-track player, etc. I wasn’t convinced. If no electronics were available, I would simply fill in the void by singing, whistling or talking to anybody who would listen (and some who would not). My dad once quipped, “You talk just to hear your head rattle.”
