Freedom woman struck by vehicle

Michelle Schroeder hospitalized

Michelle Schroeder, 67, of Freedom was struck by a vehicle leaving a private drive Monday evening. She was transported by Air Evac to OU Medical Center in Oklahoma City and admitted in stable condition with head and trunk injuries. The driver of the 2000 Cadillac Escalade was Dennis Schroeder, 68, of Freedom. He was not injured.

According to the Oklahoma Highway Patrol, the vehicle was parked in a private drive before beginning to leave and striking the woman. The incident occurred Oct. 16 about 6:50 p.m. on Jackson Road west of County Road 110. The location is about seven miles west and one mile north of Camp Houston in Woods County.

The Highway Patrol is still investigating the cause of the collision, but the driver’s condition was listed as apparently normal. Trooper Darrin Lancaster investigated the scene assisted by Freedom EMS, Freedom Fire Department and the Woods County Sheriff’s Office.
