More deer are on the roadway in fall and winter

It is time for the deer to be moving into a fall and winter pattern. This means there will be more deer on the roadway. Some tips for preventing a road accident are:

1. Be watchful of deer in the late evening and early morning, but deer can move anytime.

2. Deer in Woods County can be seen anywhere. It used to generally be just around creek beds, but deer are everywhere now. About six deer a year are hit in Alva city limits.

3. If you see a deer crossing the road, slow down, honk your horn and flash your lights. Slow your speed early in morning and late in evening.
