2017 GAC volleyball championship bracket finalized

RUSSELLVILLE, Ark. – With the Great American Conference volleyball league schedule complete, the conference announced the bracket for the 2017 GAC Championships. The tournament begins Thursday from the Bank of the Ozarks Arena in Hot Springs, Arkansas.
In the opening match, set for noon, Oklahoma Baptist makes its championship debut when it takes on Ouachita. The Lady Bison scored a three-set victory against the Tigers on Oct. 6.
At 2:30 p.m., second-seeded Harding faces Southwestern Oklahoma State, the seventh seed. The Lady Bisons defeated the Bulldogs in three sets on Oct. 14.
In the third quarterfinal, top-seeded Arkansas Tech plays Southeastern Oklahoma State. The Golden Suns, ranked ninth in the nation, completed the first undefeated regular season in GAC history. Tech beat Southeastern in four sets on Oct. 7, one of five GAC matches that Tech did not win in three sets. Last season, the Savage Storm advanced to the GAC title game from the No. 8 seed position.
In the nightcap, Northwestern Oklahoma State challenges Southern Nazarene, the 2016 GAC champions. The Rangers scored their first 20-win season in program history. They swept the season series with the Crimson Storm, winning in four sets on the road on Oct. 11 and at home on Oct. 26.
