National air women's race coming to Alva next summer

• Will kick off four days of fun aviation events

April Mills of Vantage Plane Classics expressed tremendous excitement at the Chamber Community Coffee Friday morning, Nov. 17.

"We have the national air women's races coming to Alva," she said. "We will be the first stop. We've got 50 airplanes and 100 pilots who will be stopping here on a timed event. We're really stoked about it."

The 42nd Annual Air Race Classic (www.airraceclassic.org) will come to Alva next June. The women's air race begins in Texas on June 19, 2018, with Alva the next stop. The race ends in Maine on June 22, 2018.
