Rita “Gail” Lindley, 82, of Wamego, Kansas, formerly of Burlington, Oklahoma, and Kiowa, Kansas, died Tuesday, January 9, 2018, at her home. She had been a resident of the community since 2004.

Gail was the only child born to Tom and Elva Benfield on March 9, 1935, in rural Driftwood, Oklahoma. She graduated as valedictorian of her senior class in Kiowa, Kansas, and went on to Wichita State University.

She met Robert (Bob) Lindley through mutual friends and they were married October 30, 1954, in Whittier, California.

She is survived by three daughters, one son, eight grandchildren, seven great grandchildren, aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m., Friday, January 12, 2018, at the Manhattan Church of Christ in Wamego, Kansas. A memorial service will be held at 11:30 a.m. on Saturday, January 13, 2018, at the Riverside Church of Christ in Burlington, Oklahoma. A private family interment at Riverview Cemetery in Kiowa, Kansas will be held on Saturday, January 13, 2018.
