Melton sentenced to 12 years

Lisa Marie Melton, 47, of Alva received a 12-year sentence after entering a guilty plea to accessory to murder in the second degree. The hearing was held on Friday, Feb. 2, in Woods County Court.

The felony charge was filed on Dec. 6, 2017, following an investigation into the death of Dustin Arthur Goodrich in early October.

Brian Ray Poggemeyer, 43, of Alva was charged with second degree murder in the death. Poggemeyer’s case is scheduled for a preliminary hearing on April 12, 2018. A condition of Melton’s sentencing states that she is to cooperate fully with law enforcement and testify for the state in Poggemeyer’s case.

According to court records, Melton was sentenced Feb. 2 to a term of 12 years imprisonment with all except the first ten years suspended under the custody and control of the Oklahoma Department of Corrections. She is to receive credit for time served in Woods County Jail since Oct. 11, 2017.
