GOLDEN SUNS SOAR PAST GOLDEN EAGLES

RUSSELLVILLE, Ark. – Arkansas Tech women's tennis opened the 2018 spring season on Monday with a 9-0 victory over John Brown. The Golden Suns have won four consecutive season opening matches.

UP NEXT

• Arkansas Tech returns to the court on Saturday, Feb. 17, as the Suns host Missouri Western State at Chartwells Women's Sports Complex. The non-conference match is scheduled for 10 a.m.

HOW IT HAPPENED

• The Suns started the day by sweeping doubles play. Katharina Drebka and Teresa Sanchez combined for an 8-1 win in No. 1 doubles.

• Annabel Rowlands and Kami Ward, the seventh-ranked doubles team in the Division II Central Region, followed with an 8-1 win in No. 2 doubles.

• All six singles players for Arkansas Tech won the first set, including five 6-0 victories.

• Megan Bell earned the first singles victory of the day, defeating JBU's Natalie Mollan in straight sets in No. 6 singles.

• Julia Schoch closed out the day with a 6-2, 6-0 victory in No. 4 singles.
