Track Meets Five Provisional Marks in Kansas

PITTSBURG, Kan. – Oklahoma Baptist indoor track and field finished up competition this weekend at the Gorilla Classic, hosted by Pittsburg State.

All events took place at the Robert W. Plaster Center. Bison men met the NCAA Division II provisional qualifying standard in one relay and the women met the standard in four events.

OBU men met the provisional standard in the distance medley relay in 9:59.69. A team of Nathan Crowson, Shirvante Knauls, Carlos James and Jacob Janzen ran for the Bison. The time ranks 18th in the nation.

Janzen also had a fourth place finish in the mile, finishing in 4:17.53.

Tesa Potter, Kya Barnes, Breanna Hurlbut and Abby Hoover met the provisional mark in the distance medley relay with a time of 12:00.40, which is 26th in the nation.

The Lady Bison also provisionally qualified in the 4x400-meter relay and finished fourth in 3:47.60 with a team of McKae Mitchell, JoziRose Mayfield, Sherine Van Der Westhuizen and Barnes. It is 10th in the NCAA this season.


Mayfield finished fifth in the 600-yard run in 1:25.04. The race is a non-championship event.

Leah Molter ran the 18th-fastest 60-meter hurdles in the country this season in 8.67. She finished eighth in the event and met the provisional qualifying standard.

In the 3000-meter run, Sydney Lawrence met the provisional mark in 9:58.32. It ranks No. 39 in Division II this year.

Both the men and women will head to Lubbock, Texas, for the Texas Tech Matador Qualifier on Feb. 16.
