Southeastern Cruises to Road Win at SWOSU

February 16, 2018

WEATHERFORD, Okla. – Southeastern put on an offensive showcase, hitting better than 50 percent from the field and from three-point range while putting five players in double-digits on its way to a 96-69 road victory over Southwestern Oklahoma State on Thursday night in Weatherford, Okla.

The win lifts the Savage Storm to 13-10 overall and 12-6 in Great American Conference play heading into a home matchup with Oklahoma Baptist on Saturday afternoon at 3 p.m. in Bloomer Sullivan Arena.

SE hit 56.9 percent from the field overall and drained 17 threes, hitting 17-of-33 from beyond the arc.

Jett Jobe led that charge with a 6-of-10 effort from long range and an 8-of-14 mark form the floor en route to a team-high 24 points.

A'Torey Everett and Markell Henderson each turned in 15 points, while DJ Henderson added 14 and Kevin Buckingham chipped in 11.

DJ Henderson would add four threes while Markell Henderson finished with three on the night.

Ada Dworsky finished just shy of double-figures with eight points, but triggered the offense to the tune of 11 assists.

Myles Nesbitt pulled down a team-high seven rebounds as the Storm held a 37-to-32 edge on the glass, while Markell Henderson added six boards.

SE scored first, but the bulldogs would get off to the better start with an 11-1 run leaving the Storm in an 11-3 hole early.

A Dworsky bucket would stop the bleeding and kick off an 8-0 run to tie the game which then became part of a larger 19-2 run capped by a Jobe bucket with 10:43 to play in the first to give SE a 22-13 lead.

SWOSU would respond with eight-straight points to close the gap to just one point, but a Buckingham bucket would kick the momentum in the other direction and after the Storm took advantage of a Bulldog technical foul to sink four-straight free throws SE had used an 11-0 run to go up 33-21 with 5:10 to go in the half.

Southeastern would push the lead to as many at 19 points before SWOSU closed the gap before the break and cut the Storm lead to 49-34 at the half.

The Bulldogs would cut it back to a 12 point SE lead early in the second half but that was as close as it would get.

SE would kick off a 13-0 run midway through the half and cap it with a Jobe three to open up an 83-54 lead, its largest of the game before cruising to a 96-69 victory.
