VICTORIA, Texas - The Northwestern Oklahoma State women's golf team opened up their spring semester with a team score of 322 to sit in fourth place at the conclusion of the opening round of the 2018 Claud Jacobs Spring Invitational.

That score at the Club at Colony Creek of 322 is a season-low for the Rangers and is just two strokes away from matching the school record score of 320. Senior Olivia Brock and freshman Ashley Watts both posted rounds of 78 to lead the Rangers.

Northwestern will enter Monday's final round nine strokes behind third place Western Texas Community College. The strong field features five nationally-ranked teams in their respective divisions.

Brock' s round was highlighted by an even par score of 36 on the back nine which included two birdies and two bogeys. Watts used solid chipping and steady iron play to record 14 pars throughout her round. The Ranger duo currently sit in a tie for 13th place and will be looking to make a push into the top ten during tomorrow's final round.

Watts and Brock were provided support by juniors Kelsi Wilson and Nikkole Donk, who posted rounds of 82 and 84 to round out the counted scores for the black-and-red. Wilson sits in a tie for 30th place while Donk finds herself in 37th place.

Junior Brittani Casement rounded out the squad with a round of 87.

The second and final round will get underway tomorrow morning at 8 a.m. with a shotgun start.
