February 23, 2018

In a report present to the Alva Hospital Authority, the Homestead occupancy is increased 8.4 percent over January 2017. One resident moved to the nursing home in January. Average January occupancy for all nights was 86.8 percent, which includes guest nights and comp nights paid to some providers at the hospital.

Also in January, the Homestead converted two of three trial stays into rental agreements, and there is a possibility the

third one may still happen.

The Homestead is converting some apartments from two bedroom configuration to one. One more super-two/one-bedroom conversion will happen during the month of February or March, bringing total apartments up to 55.

The staff is taking protective measures to protect everyone from the flu. Most activities at the end of January and the first half of February are canceled so as to reduce contact. Also, many meals are being taken to individual rooms due to flu among some residents.

Overall, resident satisfaction with the kitchen remains high. A total of 2,949 meals were served to residents; 1,027 meals were provided to the county jail; 88 guests partook of meals; t360 meals on wheels were delivered; 175 employees were fed.
