MARY SCHMITT

 

Mary Jane Schmitt, daughter of Frank and Nettie (Campbell) Schmitt was born May 8, 1938, southwest of Hardtner, Kansas, on the farm. She passed away at Share Convalescent Home on March 2, 2018, at the age of 79 years, 9 months and 22 days.

Funeral services will be Monday, March 5, 2018, at 11 a.m. at the Wharton Funeral Chapel LLC in Alva with Rev. Bob Brown, pastor of the Alva Church of God, officiating. Interment will be in the Alva Municipal Cemetery. Wharton Funeral Chapel is in charge of arrangements. Condolences may be made online at http://www.whartonfuneral chapel.com.

She attended Farry School through the 12th grade and graduated with the Class of 1957.

Mary was married to Rexford Murrow and to this union a son Kenneth Ray Murrow was born.

Mary would go on her church's summer camps trips in Tulsa and do the cooking for the kids. Mary loved to sing in church. She worked in several cafes and did ironing for people. She always was a hard worker and had a big heart and would give you her last penny.

Mary was preceded in death by her two daughters: Robin Lea, and Donna Jo; her mother and father Frank and Nettie Schmitt; her sisters: Eva Cleary, Dorothy Lyon, Helen Houston, Velma Snyder, Tessie Sandell, Goldie Lancaster, Pearl Rosser, and a brother Leo Schmitt.

Mary is survived by: her son Kenneth Murrow and special friend Sarah Hoadley; two sisters: Katharina and husband Maynard Arndt, Margaret and husband Larry Snow; one brother Edward and wife Alice Schmitt, and several nieces, nephews and friend.
