Kyle Hughbanks to lead REI Oklahoma's board of directors

March 16, 2018

REI Oklahoma, a leader in Oklahoma economic development efforts, has announced the bi-annual leadership changes of its volunteer board of directors. Kyle Hughbanks has assumed the chairmanship, Chris Meyers has been named vice chair, John Harper will now serve as secretary, and Bill Rahhal has been named treasurer of the organization's board. Gary Sherrer, who has completed his two year term as chairman, will continue to serve as a director.

"I'm very appreciative of Mr. Sherrer serving as board chairman for the past two years," said Hughbanks. "REI Oklahoma has benefited from his business acumen and dedication and we look forward to his continued insight as we seek new opportunities to spur growth in the state. I'm pleased to welcome Mr. Meyers, Mr. Harper and Mr. Rahhal into their new roles as well."

Hughbanks, the president of BancCentral in Alva, has served on REI Oklahoma's board for nine years. He also serves on the REI Development Corp. board, the board of managers for REI New Markets Investment LLC and is on the credit committee. Bringing an experienced skillset in the area of business lending, as well as a knowledge of market needs in northwestern Oklahoma, his leadership is pertinent in identifying the capital needs of Oklahoma business projects. Hughbanks is past chairman and a current member of the Bill Johnson Correctional Center Advisory Committee. He has served as a youth leader in his church and has been involved with a number of outreach programs, including serving as a board member for Northwest Family Services (NFS).

"We are very fortunate to have such a talented and diverse group on our board, who continually steer our organization in a great direction," said Scott Dewald, president and CEO. "They give of their time, talent and resources, all in the name of making Oklahoma stronger – for that we are grateful."
