Firefighters battle grass fires in central Oklahoma

OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) — Oklahoma City firefighters say a grass fire fueled by dry brush and gusty winds caused minor damage to two houses and two vehicles on the city's northeast side as critical wildfire conditions persist.

Battalion Fire Chief Benny Fulkerson said Thursday the fire burned about 200 acres. Authorities say firefighters also battled smaller grass fires in Canadian and Grady counties on Thursday.

Fulkerson says the Oklahoma City fire was near a high school, but the structure was not in danger and no evacuations were ordered. No injuries have been reported.
