UNA 'CAROLYN' DOZIER

March 18, 2018

Carolyn Dozier was born to the late Otto and Rae Cooper in Heavener, Oklahoma, on July 6, 1934. She passed away March 13 at Bellevue Health and Rehab in Oklahoma City after a courageous 13-year battle with a massive stroke and other health concerns. Carolyn married Dow Dozier on August 8, 1955, in Heavener. They would have celebrated their 63 anniversary in August of this year.

She is survived by her loving husband and caregiver Dow; daughter Lauri and husband James Reeg; daughter Lisa and husband Steve Lohmann; son Drew Dozier and wife Bridget; brother David and wife June Cooper of Claremore; grandson Adam Holder and wife Lacey; grandson Andrew Holder and wife Kirsten; grandsons Dax and Brock Dozier.

Carolyn was a skilled secretary, serving positions on the OU Yearbook Staff, the OU Army-Navy Armory, Methodist Churches in Alva and Woodward, and Hilldale Elementary School in Oklahoma City. Her jobs at OU helped her husband complete his journalism degree at the University.

A talented artist, Carolyn painted many beautiful oil paintings in the '60s and '70s. Her husband's favorite was a large view of Presbyterian Falls on the Mountain Fork River in southeastern Oklahoma. Dow said one could always identify their home by the location of that painting.

Carolyn's memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, March 16, in the Chapel of the Cross at the United Methodist Church of the Servant, 14343 N. MacArthur Blvd. Oklahoma City.

Memorials may be made to: Music Ministry at Church of the Servant OKC or to the charity of your choice.
