PERRY, Okla. – Stanton Earnest pitched a gem of a game Thursday afternoon in the opening round of the Hector Tovar Invitational in Perry, helping the No. 17 Alva Goldbugs to a 4-1 victory over Perkins-Tryon.

The win advances the Alva into a winner’s bracket showdown against tournament host No. 15 Perry at 6 p.m. on Friday night. Perry reached the next round with a dominate 15-0 victory over Morris in an evening game.

The Bugs are now 7-4 on the season.
