The Perkins name figures predominately into Northwestern Oklahoma State University (NWOSU) sports history during the late 1960s through 1983. Her father, former athletic director and coach Cecil Perkins, is in the National NAIA Hall of Fame and the NWOSU Sports Hall of Fame along with her brother, Michael Perkins, who was an All-American in baseball. There is also a Perkins family member who made her mark in the NWOSU Theatre Program and beyond.
