April 15, 2018

ARKADELPHIA, Ark. - In a pushed back series between the Northwestern Oklahoma State Rangers softball team and the Ouachita Baptist Tigers, the home team came away with two wins over the Rangers, 2-0 and 7-0.

Game 1

It was a tough offensive game for the Rangers on the road in game one, where the visitors were allowed only one hit, with it coming off the bat of first baseman Madi Parrott who went 1-for-3 in the contest.

Neither team was very offensive through the first two innings, but Ouachita broke the seal on the scoring where they took a 1-0 lead on a single to left field.

Each pitcher was solid once again for another two innings, but unfortunately for Ranger starter, Madison Garza, the Tigers put another run on the board, making it 2-0.

Garza came away with the loss in her outing as Marissa Butler of Ouachita was dominant in the circle, giving away just one hit on her day.

Game 2

Northwestern did have a better game at the plate, recording six hits, but weren't able to cash in. Jada Overby led the way for the visitors, going 2-for-3 at the dish.

Ouachita didn't take any time putting runs on the board in game two of the day where they did most of their damage in the first, plating four runs with two singles and a double.

The Rangers were able to collect a couple of hits in the early going, but weren't able to convert. The Tigers put more insurance runs on the board when a two-run homer was sent over the left field wall, making it a 6-0 advantage.

In the bottom of the fifth inning, OBU singled to the pitcher, bringing home their seventh run of the contest. The Rangers were unable to answer, falling 7-0 in the second game.
