Burlington School News: Science can be fun

Freshman science students Alyssa Russell and Kayla Highfill build their Rube Goldberg machine

Science teacher Jennifer Newlin has been teaching science at Burlington School for 28 years. Her science classes are often very hands on in order to learn a concept. She teaches science classes for seventh through twelfth grades.

The freshman science class recently built Rube Golberg machines during their segment on simple machines. A Rube Goldberg machine is a "contraption, invention, device or apparatus that uses a chain reaction to accomplish a very simple task in a complicated manner."

The simple task that Mrs. Newlin's students had to complete was putting toothpaste on a toothbrush. Stude...
