Harding Women's Tennis Rallies to Defeat Henderson State at GAC Tournament

BENTONVILLE, Ark. – Harding women's tennis, the No. 4 seed at the Great American Conference Tournament, battled back from a one-match deficit after doubles to defeat No. 5 seed Henderson State 5-4 in the first round Thursday.

Harding takes on No. 1 seed Oklahoma Baptist Friday at 2 p.m. at the Memorial Park Tennis Center.

In Thursday's match, Harding never led until senior Gabriella Alves match point at No. 3 singles.

Harding trailed 4-3 with two matches remaining, and seniors Alves and Laura Golubic (at No. 2 singles) finished off their third-set victories less than a minute apart.

Harding's lone doubles point came at No. 2, where Hana Folse and Paulina Kostka played together for the first time this season and won 8-5.

In singles, Arisa Takanashi won 6-4, 6-0 at No. 1, and Kostka won 6-2, 6-1 at No. 6. Takanashi's win was her 18th. It was the 10th for Kostka.
