R.A.C.E. and city to install concrete pad for car show contests

The R.A.C.E. Car Club has come up with a plan to preserve the condition of downtown streets while continuing the very popular racing and burnout competitions of the Big Cruise and Car Show. R.A.C.E. member Joe Phillips said they've noticed some deterioration or damage to the surface of Barnes Avenue after the event.

Having seen the much improved condition of Flynn Street on the downtown square after asphalt resurfacing and anticipating the same improvement to Barnes this summer, they talked to the city about ways to counter any racing and burnout damage. The plan calls for a large concrete pad...
