Alfalfa County commissioners proclaim May 6–12 OHCE Week

The Alfalfa County Board of Commissioners held its regular meeting Monday morning. All commisioners were present, as well as Nancy Lambert, Wilda Flaming, Suzie Salinas, Lorretta Sharp, Erin Metcalf, Sarah Wagner, Brandon Box and Lanetta Unruh. After the call to order, Lambert gave the invocation, then the flag was saluted.

Commissioners departed from the order of the agenda and approved the OHCE proclamation. May 6–12 is OHCE Week in Alfalfa County. OHCE stands for Oklahoma Home and Community Education. This is a program of continuing education in all aspects of home and community life. OHCE presents research-based information to its members.

The agenda was then returned to, with the minutes from the previous meeting being approved. Then M & O warrants for payment and the blanket purchase orders received the commissioners' approval. No road crossing permits were submitted this week.

The county clerk submitted the appropriations to the board and the monthly officer reports, which met with the commissioners' approval.

The monthly highway expenditures were approved by the board and the alcoholic beverage taxes were allocated to the towns as follows:

• Aline: $389.47

• Amorita: $69.61

• Burlington: $285.99

• Byron: $65.85

• Carmen: $667.93

• Cherokee: $2,818.46

• Goltry: $468.49

• Helena: $2639.72

• Jet: $400.76

• Lambert: $11.29

• Countywide total: $7,817.57

Other Business

There is no burn ban this week.

The county recieved open bids for the Helena Station for the new EMS building. RSM of Edmond bid $1,009,000 and Rick Scott Construction bid $908,000.

The county clerk has the commissioners' approval to go out for six-month bids and for wildland fire fighting apparatus for Helena Rescue.

The commissioners then went into executive session. Upon its return, the commissioners approved terminating the county's employment of 911 dispatcher Tina Wessel.

No unforseen business was presented. After a motion to adjourn was approved, the meeting closed.
