Kansas Eisenhower museum renovation to be completed by 2019

 


ABILENE, Kan. (AP) — Renovation of the 25,000-square-foot (2322-sq. meter) Eisenhower Presidential Library and Museum in Abilene, Kansas is underway with plans to reopen in 2019.

The museum is scheduled to reopen on the 75th anniversary of the Allied invasion of Normandy, The Topeka Capital-Journal reported . The Allies invaded western Europe during World War II under the leadership of Gen. Dwight D. Eisenhower on June 6, 1944.

The museum closed last month for an extensive renovation. Dawn Hammett, director of the Eisenhower campus, said museum exhibits have been moved to the library, and the...
